Comparison of two perforation methods of fiber laser cutting machine

Perforation is what laser cutting machine is good at. It is used in different materials and different ways. How many perforation methods does laser cutting machine have? The answer is two, one is blasting perforation, and the other is pulse perforation. These two are common methods of laser cutting machine perforation. What are the differences between the two methods? What are their uses and characteristics?

We often encounter the link of perforation in laser cutting. This perforation refers to the use of laser cutting machine to make a small hole in the metal plate. The laser perforation process is mainly used in the precision instrument industry. Because there are many holes in the metal materials of precision instruments, the early use of the perforation process is generally used in the watch industry, and all of them are mechanically drilled, Because the mechanical drilling is a contact processing, it is easy to damage the workpiece. The non-contact processing with laser cutting machine is an ideal scheme. At present, there are two good methods of laser cutting.

First method: Blasting

After blasting, the material is irradiated by continuous laser beam to form a pit in the center. The hole diameter of the thick plate is bigger and not round, so this technology is not suitable for the parts with high precision. In addition, due to the use of gas for perforation, the spatter is large. The advantage is fast, but the disadvantage is that it affects the processing of small shape.

Second method: Pulse perforation

Pulsed laser is used to melt or vaporize part of the cutting path of the material. Air or nitrogen is often used as auxiliary gas to reduce the hole expansion due to exothermic oxidation. Each pulse will only produce a small splash, cutting gradually deeper, so the thick plate perforation time takes a few seconds. In this way, the diameter of the hole is smaller, and the quality of the hole is better than that of the blasting hole. The advantage is that the quality is better, the disadvantage is that the cost is relatively high, and a more reliable gas control system is needed.
In the actual processing process, which method should we choose? The manufacturer of Han's super laser cutting machine reminds you that you should choose according to the actual situation. For example, if you want to process small holes, you should not use blasting perforation, which will make the laser energy too concentrated and scorch the non processing area, resulting in hole deformation and affecting the processing quality. In a word, not every method is applicable to all processing, we should choose a reasonable perforation method.
