Using Skills and Cutting Knowledge of CNC Plasma Cutting Machine

August 9, 2022     News

The CNC plasma cutting machine, combined with a simple and easy-to-use CNC system, ionizes the high-speed air jet in the nozzle at high temperature to form a conductor. When an electric flow passes through, the conductor forms a high-temperature plasma arc. The heat of the arc locally melts (and evaporates) the metal at the gap of the workpiece, and with the help of the force of high-speed plasma airflow to remove the molten metal, forming a notch. The thin, stable plasma arc formed by the toroidal airflow technique ensures that any conductive metal can be cut smoothly and economically.

Using skills of CNC plasma cutting machine: When using CNC plasma cutting machine, the cutting quality is not stable and the wearing parts are frequently replaced. It is found that more and more users are not standardized in the use of CNC plasma cutting machine and do not pay enough attention to some details. Below, we summarize some daily use skills of CNC plasma cutting machine, hoping to bring you convenience:

1. Cutting should start at the edge: If possible, cut from the edge, not through the hole. Using edges as starting points will extend the service life of consumables. The correct method is to direct the nozzle to the edge of the workpiece and then start the plasma arc.

2. Reduce unnecessary "arc" time: nozzle and electrode consumption in the arc process is very fast. Before you begin cutting, the torch should be placed within walking distance of cutting metal.

3. Do not overload the nozzle: overloading the nozzle (that is, exceeding the working current of the nozzle) will quickly damage the nozzle. The current intensity shall be 95% of the nozzle operating current. For example, the current intensity of a 100A nozzle should be set to 95A.

4. Adopt reasonable tangent distance: according to the requirements of the operation manual, adopt reasonable cutting distance, that is, the distance between the cutting nozzle and the workpiece surface. When perforating, try to use twice the normal cutting distance or the maximum height that the plasma arc can transmit.

5. The perforation thickness shall be within the allowable range of the machine system: the cutting machine shall not punch holes on the steel plate exceeding the working thickness. The usual perforation thickness is 1/2 of the normal cut thickness. Keep the torch and consumables as clean as possible. Any dirt on the torch and consumables will greatly affect the function of the plasma system. When replacing the consumable parts, place them on clean flanges, check the connecting ribs of the cutting torch frequently, and clean the electrode contact surface and nozzle with hydrogen peroxide cleaner.
