Press brake Mechanical Crowning vs Hydraulic Crowning - Difference comparison

In the process of workpiece bending, because the force on both ends of the slider is the largest, the reaction force during plate bending causes concave deformation on the lower surface of the slider, and the deformation of the middle part of the slider is the largest. In order to eliminate the adverse effects of the slider deformation, it is necessary to compensate the deflection deformation of the slider. Hydraulic Crowning and mechanical Crowning are the two main Crowning systems, which can make the middle of the worktable produce upward elastic deformation, so as to offset the deformation of the machine tool slider, ensure the accuracy of the processing interface, and improve the accuracy of the workpiece.

Mechanical Crowning technology

The convex wedge is composed of a group of convex wedge with inclined plane, and each convex wedge is designed according to the deflection curve of finite element analysis of slider and worktable. The numerical control system calculates the required Crowning amount according to the magnitude of the load force when the workpiece is bent (the force will cause the deflection deformation of the slider and the vertical plate of the worktable), and automatically controls the relative movement of the convex wedge, so as to effectively compensate the deflection deformation of the slider and the vertical plate of the worktable, The ideal mechanical deflection Crowning of bending workpiece is to realize "pre bulge" by controlling the position. A group of wedges form a curve consistent with the actual deflection in the length direction of the worktable, so that the gap between the upper and lower dies is consistent during bending, and the angle of the bending workpiece in the length direction is consistent. Mechanical compensation can get accurate deflection compensation in the whole length of the worktable. The mechanical deflection compensation has long-lasting stability, reduces the maintenance frequency of hydraulic compensation (such as oil leakage), and is maintenance free during the service life of the machine tool. Because there are many compensation points for mechanical deflection compensation, the bending machine can achieve more linear compensation and improve the bending effect. Mechanical compensation is driven by the motor, as a numerical control axis, to achieve digital control, so that the compensation value is more accurate.

Hydraulic Crowning technology

The hydraulic automatic deflection Crowning mechanism of the worktable is composed of a group of oil cylinders installed in the lower worktable. The position and size of each compensation oil cylinder are designed according to the deflection compensation curve of the slider and the finite element analysis of the worktable. The hydraulic compensation realizes the convex compensation of the neutral version through the relative displacement between the front, middle and rear three vertical plates, Its principle is to realize the bulge through the elastic deformation of the steel plate itself, so its compensation can be adjusted within the elastic range of the worktable.
